Interview: Poto Omanga
Who are you?
My name is Poto Omanga.
Where are you from?
My name is Poto Omanga and I come from the Democratic Republic of Congo. My family came to Germany when I was three years old. I spent most of my life in Stuttgart. I also feel that Stuttgart is my home.
What do you do at NOVUM Hospitality ?
I am the Front Office Manager at Novum Alpenhotel Bayerischer Hof, our only alpine hotel. I mainly work with two wonderful colleagues and a trainee at the reception. The tasks are very varied. In addition, I support the management with the organisation and administration of the hotel. When other departments need support, we help each other. My favourite place is the restaurant, especially because of the movement, which I don't always have at the reception.
Why NOVUM Hospitality ?
Novum had initially aroused my curiosity because of the philosophy and the lofty goals. I wanted to be part of it and make my contribution. In the meantime, I have been to several locations and have had the opportunity to meet many great colleagues whom I can now count among my friends. To this day, this decision is one of the best I have ever made.
What are your goals?
My goal is to run my own hotel.
What is your passion privately or professionally?
Professionally, my main concern is to be able to pass on the knowledge, but especially the enthusiasm and love for my profession and the hotel industry that I have experienced myself. Privately, I now allow myself the luxury of being satisfied with all that I have achieved. The most important thing is that all my loved ones are healthy.
Which story at Novum was the funniest or most moving for you?
Surprisingly, there have been so many that it is very difficult for me to pick out one:
- My first job interview in Stuttgart - that was a car ride with my director, who showed me new perspectives.
- The image film I was allowed to be a part of.
- Many, many meetings and conversations with colleagues after work.
Oh yes: And by the way, I was once THE "Employee of the Month", which still amazes me today.
