Sustainability

We already keep an eye on the environment when planning our hotels, because many of our project developers and partners have hotel construction projects checked by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). This ensures that our projects meet the DGNB gold or platinum rating. The DGNB criteria include, for example, the responsible exploitation of resources, drinking water requirements and waste water production as well as the biological diversity at the site.

In day-to-day business, we prefer to work with major suppliers who work according to sustainable principles. In addition, we pay attention to the use of biodegradable soaps and cleaning agents and do not have minibars in the rooms.

For our lifestyle brand the niu, we also engage up-and-coming young artists who design the interior walls of the individual hotels individually and underline the brand character. In this way, we not only create a platform for fresh talent, but also promote the spread of artistic diversity.

Both campaigns support the non-profit Nader Etmenan Foundation, which is involved in numerous social projects - including in cooperation with Viva con Agua de Sankt Pauli e.V. – works for people in need.

For each newly opened the niu hotel, NOVUM Hospitality donates €2,500 to the Nader Etmenan Foundation. The donated money goes to aid projects – e.g. Viva con Aguas water projects - for the benefit. For example, every fourth hotel opening finances the construction of a well in Uganda.
