Sant Cugat del Vallès is a municipality in the province of Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It is located on the northwestern side of the Collserola mountain range and is part of the Barcelona metropolitan area. The town has a rich history: archaeological findings indicate that it has been inhabited since the Neolithic Age.
Today, Sant Cugat del Vallès is a modern and prosperous city with about 90,000 inhabitants. It is known for its high standard of living, excellent public services and well-preserved historic center. The city is also home to a number of important institutions, including the Autonomous University of Barcelona, several research centers and numerous high-tech companies. One of the most popular tourist attractions in Sant Cugat del Vallès is the Monastery of Sant Cugat, a Benedictine monastery built in the 9th century and declared a national monument, in addition to being considered one of the most important examples of Romanesque architecture in Catalonia. Other attractions in the town include the Parc de la Pollancreda, a large park with walking trails and a lake, and the Casa Aymat, a modernist building by architect Jaume Torres i Grau. Sant Cugat del Vallès is also known for its annual cultural events, such as the International Music Festival and the Jazz Festival. The town is easily accessible from Barcelona by public transport and is a popular destination for day trips from the Catalan capital.
